Tom Nelson

Fascinated by calligraphy for as long as he can remember, Tom Nelson’s creativity initially found expression in
graffiti.
After several years of practice, he moved on to other means of expression and began to tackle canvas on stretchers, and recycled supports with the aim of
preserving a trace of his creations.
Tom Nelson doesn’t try to represent classic graffiti on canvas. Over time,
he develops an abstract painting style based on repetition, which fades and destructures, becoming almost illegible through his creative gestures.

From these accumulations of lines and materials emerges a rhythmic energy, his
compositions becoming almost a dance, a moving wave full of life.
Tom Nelson uses graffiti techniques while drawing inspiration from modern art. His
imaginary work is rooted in Klein’s monochromes,
Pollock’s vigorous drippings and Soulages’ extensive research into Outrenoir.
The moment the light is reflected on Tom Nelson’s painting, the textural effects take shape and the work is revealed in all its mystery and originality.
The artist soon understands that his unconscious quest motivates him to paint with boldness on the same theme: the Elements.
